Madeline Phillips
What is your job title and what year did you come on staff at The WellHouse?
I am currently a Resident Assistant, working with the women at The Immediate Shelter. I originally came on staff in January 2026, and I am so grateful that God has continued to open doors for me here and allowed me to grow into this role!
What is your favorite part about your job?
My favorite part is getting to know the girls and being able to walk alongside them during such an important part of their journey. The women humble me daily! I enjoy getting to encourage them, celebrate the little victories, and be a consistent, safe person they can count on. There is something really special about being able to remind someone that they are seen, valued, and loved!
Tell us about your educational and professional experience.
I graduated from UAB in August of 2024 with my Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice and a minor in Forensic Psychology. Earning my degree helped me build a strong foundation in understanding the justice system, trauma, and behavioral patterns, which I believe will be valuable in my current role.
Tell us about your journey coming into the anti-trafficking field and with The WellHouse.
My journey began through my work with CampHope America, where I have spent the past two summers gaining hands-on experience supporting kids and teens. That experience deepened my passion for advocacy and working with individuals who have experienced trauma. I feel that the skills and perspective I gained there will allow me to continue growing and making a meaningful impact at The WellHouse.
How has working at The WellHouse impacted your life?
Working at The WellHouse has impacted my life in ways I don’t think I could have fully understood before coming here! The girls have taught me so much about strength, resilience, grace, and what it means to keep going even after experiencing things no one should have to experience. They have changed the way I see people and the world around me. This job has also strengthened my faith and reminded me that God can use us in places we never expected to be. I feel incredibly blessed to be able to serve these girls, and I pray that through my work, they are able to see even a small reflection of the love, hope, and worth that God has for them! I love what I do, and feel incredibly grateful that God has allowed me to be a part of The WellHouse!
