Difference Makers: Fall 2025
Every quarter, we take time to celebrate the volunteers who make our mission possible. As I reflect on the past few months, I see so many joyful, servant-hearted individuals and smiling faces washing cars, serving snow cones, building furniture, weed eating, teaching financial literacy and nutrition, and so much more. It’s no exaggeration to say that we are blessed with some of the most dedicated and joyful volunteers around!
Each week at The WellHouse, incredible women lead walking groups, provide transportation to medical appointments, cover our front desk, and even housesit at our residential homes. Our committed male volunteers take on the hard work of mowing our (very large!) grounds and maintaining our facilities. We are especially looking to grow this team of faithful men, so if you or someone you know is interested in serving in this way, we’d love to hear from you! Your willingness to show up, step in, and serve allows our staff to focus on caring deeply for our residents and building the programs that support their healing. We truly could not do this without you. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
As our CEO, Carolyn Potter, often says, one of the most impactful ways to serve at The WellHouse is by becoming a mentor. Mentors walk alongside residents in their healing journey, offering support, encouragement, and friendship. I often think of the story from Exodus 17, when Aaron and Hur held up Moses' arms during battle, mentors do something similar. They help carry the weight when it feels too heavy, reminding residents that they are not alone. Mentoring is also a lot of fun! Whether it's getting your nails done, walking in the park, or grabbing lunch, our residents make wonderful companions. Right now, several residents are waiting for that special person to step into their lives in this way, and we need your help to fill that gap.
If you’re interested in becoming a mentor, or want to learn more, please reach out to us at volunteer@the-wellhouse.org. We’d love to connect with you!
