Letter from the CEO: Summer 2025
All that led to The WellHouse moving to our current campus was a Joseph-type event! It is so clear that God meant this for good. Today, as we serve more survivors of human sex trafficking than ever before, we are continually seeking ways to improve. Here are a few exciting happenings at The WellHouse:
Our social enterprise, ShopWell, is continuing to grow with employment opportunities for adult WellHouse program participants, and we now offer survivors opportunities to work in other positions on campus as they develop their individual employment skills. Our big news to share is that we are currently seeking a physical storefront for ShopWell, which will also house a consignment boutique, creating even more job possibilities for those who choose this path.
The adult program has transitioned to a completely new program structure. Recognizing that not all participants work at the same pace, they can now progress through the program as they are motivated to seek a path that best suits their life goals, including education, career development, and family reunification.
After almost four years, our WellHouse Child program is more defined as we offer a wide array of restorative services including family reunification (when possible), transition to a program with a more traditional home setting, or a transition to our adult program if desired. There is no time limit on how long a survivor can stay at WellHouse Child, but progress is essential. We are so proud of one resident who recently was named Valedictorian of her Senior Virtual Academy class, and has received a scholarship to a university in Alabama through the Presidential Scholars program! She will begin her undergrad studies while still here at The WellHouse. We are very grateful to our fabulous Education Coordinator for guiding this young lady and others through another successful school year.
As we navigate the above and much more, we are also excited to continue as a leader in this field of anti-trafficking. While eradicating trafficking is a distant goal, we know that we must first eradicate the vulnerabilities that lead to trafficking before this egregious criminal activity ceases. Collectively, we must seek to protect our children from abuse, address mental illness, deal effectively with all manners of addiction, provide poverty relief, ensure that effective education is available to all, and so much more. As a Christian organization, we of course know that true change rarely happens without spiritual change! We will continue to offer this hope to all who choose to find their healing at The WellHouse.
