Difference Makers: Summer 2025
The summer season is always a fun and impactful season at The WellHouse. Numerous dedicated volunteers come together to support our residents, care for our campus, and meet our practical needs. It is a beautiful picture of the Body of Christ – everyone contributing their unique gifts to serve His children. Thank you for the part you play in our mission!
As temperatures rise and our grounds flourish, the need for service days on our campus becomes even more important. Because of this, we are incredibly grateful to the many volunteers who invest their time and energy to help us tackle our ongoing facilities projects. Since March, several volunteer groups have contributed to efforts such as cleaning our buildings’ siding, painting our gate, clearing debris, assembling furniture, and spreading mulch. Additionally, we are especially thankful for those who consistently mow our lawns—braving the Alabama heat. Your commitment does not go unnoticed or unappreciated!
One of my favorite ways you can volunteer at The WellHouse is through hosting special events for our residents. We are truly blessed by the many churches, organizations, and individuals who take the time to plan meaningful and enjoyable experiences for the women and children we serve. Each day, our residents engage in the hard work of healing – through therapy, case management, and recovery groups – so it’s especially meaningful when they’re given the opportunity to simply relax, connect, and experience joy. For example, this summer alone, our residents will attend three “block parties” thrown just for them – what a gift!
Looking ahead, we’re excited to expand our WellHouse Women programming with several new classes and groups designed to support wellness. We’ve already introduced a weekly walking group, providing our residents with an opportunity to prioritize their physical health. In the coming months, we hope to add additional offerings such as nutrition, cooking, and physical therapy classes.
If you have a passion for any of these areas and would be interested in leading a service day, hosting a special event for residents, or teaching a wellness class, please contact us here!
Volunteer Spotlight
Justin has been cutting our grass and weed eating monthly for years, saving The WellHouse tens of thousands of dollars a year so we do not have to hire out these essential jobs. Justin is an example of a faithful volunteer who sees needs and meets them without desire for recognition. We’re so grateful for his years of service to keep making The WellHouse beautiful.
You can be a Justin, too! If you would like to learn more about the volunteer application process visit our website.
