Difference Makers: Winter 2025

Luke 10:2 teaches that “the harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few,” calling believers to put their faith into action. I’m truly thankful for the volunteers who have answered that call by serving with The WellHouse. We have been blessed beyond measure by the support of our volunteers, and Kingdom work is being accomplished every time a volunteer chooses to give their energy and time to us. Whether serving directly with residents, helping administratively, or lending a hand during service days, your help has made an immeasurable impact!

While one-time events are always appreciated and meaningful for our residents, there is something uniquely powerful about consistency. This year, our women’s program underwent a significant structural change. Our team spent hours brainstorming how to build the strongest, most supportive program possible—and we knew it could only become a reality through the dedication of our volunteers. With that in mind, we created our dream schedule that included various “life skills” classes we hoped to offer our residents. Today, we are proud to share that we now host 13 regular, volunteer-led classes and bible studies on our campus. We recognize just how remarkable this is, and we are deeply grateful to every volunteer who makes this consistency—and impact—possible. Your steady presence communicates a profound sense of worth to our residents.

The holidays are always a great opportunity to intentionally show our residents how loved they really are. For many of our residents, memories of Thanksgiving and Christmas are only negative ones. Because of this, we try our best to redeem this season for them – showing each resident how valued, cared for, and worthy of fun they are. Our volunteers help us tremendously with this! For one, there are numerous volunteers that are working together to turn our campus into a true “winter wonderland,” making our residents’ home a joyful place to live. Additionally, there are over 25 individuals that are sponsoring Christmas gifts for all of our residents – either through shopping for them or donating monetarily. Because of their generosity, some residents will open Christmas gifts for the first time this year. We also have wonderful volunteers that have agreed to provide Thanksgiving and Christmas meals for our residents. I know it will be a special time for our women and children as they sit together to enjoy these meals. Lastly, many volunteers have hosted and will soon host holiday-themed activities with our residents – things like ornament making, cookie decorating, and pajama parties. We have the best volunteers on the planet!

I pray you have a very blessed holiday season! May you encounter our Lord as the “Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, and Prince of Peace” that He is this season. Thank you again for all that you do to support us!
