Difference Makers - Spring 2023

Development Director

In March, we hired a new volunteer coordinator, Emily Jones! She lives in Odenville with her husband and three precious children. Emily has a background in the nursing field and has joined our team with enthusiasm, compassion, and skill. We are so excited to welcome her into The WellHouse family.

We have had some wonderful volunteers throughout the first quarter of the year. CrossPoint Church helped us clear our storage units and organized our attics on campus, Oak Mountain Presbyterian Church helped with yard work as well as cleaning and organizing within our on-campus apartments, HopeU led a painting class with residents and helped with WellHouse Child facilities projects. Ministries such as Redeemed, Church of the Cross, and Redeeming Love served by leading on campus worship nights and services. Trafficking Hope led numerous initiatives where they pampered residents by doing their hair, nails, and makeup. Women from Vestavia Hills Methodist Church have been leading a weekly bible study on The Chosen for residents in Next Steps to Freedom and Taylor Hill recently started leading a pilates class for residents on Wednesdays which has been quite the hit! As always, our mentors have been incredibly encouraging and helpful to our residents. We could not be more grateful for them!

Our volunteer program is expanding with many opportunities coming up as we increase our needs on and around campus. We are currently looking for volunteers to help with guitar lessons, transportation to medical appointments, house sitting, and joining our ShopWell team. If you want to become involved on a volunteer level please fill out our application here: https://www.the-wellhouse.org/volunteer
