Rescue Update: Spring 2022

Since our last Rescue update, The WellHouse has accepted five new residents into our restorative program.

Rescue happens in a number of different ways, but it almost always happens when someone identifies a victim. We share these stories so you can know how to identify a victim and what to do when a victim needs your help.

These are the situations that bring women to The WellHouse where they can safely heal from trafficking…

  • One resident was from Tennessee and rescued from Alabama. Her boyfriend severely beat her and left her. She got to a hospital where they reached out to an advocate.

  • One resident was from Florida and rescued from Alabama. Her long term boyfriend was her trafficker. He was physically, sexually and mentally abusive towards her.

  • One resident was from Mississippi and rescued from Mississippi. She was initially trafficked by family, and then kidnapped and taken to a high trafficking area in Tennessee.

  • One resident was from Tennessee and rescued from Tennessee. She was trafficked from a young age, and from there it transitioned to being the norm in her adulthood.

  • One resident was from Alabama and rescued in Alabama. She was also trafficked early in childhood and it continued into her adulthood.
