Rescue Update - Fall 2021

Since our last Rescue update, The WellHouse has accepted seven new residents into our restorative program.

Rescue happens in a number of different ways, but it almost always happens when someone identifies a victim. We share these stories so you can know how to identify a victim and what to do when a victim needs your help.

These are the situations that bring women to The WellHouse where they can safely heal from trafficking…

One resident was from Missouri and rescued from Alabama.  Her long-term boyfriend began trafficking her to support them. This went on for several years. He left her on the streets where she was beaten.  A good samaritan took her to the hospital, where she was connected to a victim’s advocate.  The advocate reached out to The Wellhouse.

One resident was from Illinois and rescued from Illinois.  She was trafficked by family from a young age until rescued by law enforcement and advocates.

One resident was from Tennessee and rescued from Mississippi. She was taken to a large city in Tennessee to be trafficked and kept against her will.  She completed one program and relapsed.  An advocate reached out to The WellHouse for an intake.
