What is your job title and what year did you come on staff at The WellHouse?
I am a Legal Coordinator, and I joined The WellHouse staff in 2023.
What is your favorite part about your job?
My favorite part of my job is being able to help the women have the opportunity for a fresh start before returning to the world. Being able to walk alongside them through the legal process and see the weight lifted from their shoulders when they finally receive answers, closure, or a second chance is truly a blessing. I love knowing that the work I do behind the scenes can have such a meaningful impact on someone's future. It is incredibly rewarding to watch women regain their sense of hope, freedom, and confidence as they move forward in their lives.
Tell us about your educational and professional experience that equips you to be successful in this field.
My professional experience has primarily centered around working with women who have experienced trauma and exploitation. Through my time at The WellHouse, I have gained experience in direct care, leadership, advocacy, documentation, case coordination, and now legal coordination. Each role has given me a different perspective and helped me better understand the importance of meeting women right where they are.
Tell us about your journey coming into the anti-trafficking field and with The WellHouse.
My journey with The WellHouse began in the WHC program, where I had the opportunity to work directly with minors who had experienced trafficking and sexual exploitation. That experience opened my eyes to the realities of trafficking and showed me how important it is to create a safe, supportive environment where survivors can begin to heal and feel empowered about their futures. In my current role as Legal Coordinator, I am able to advocate for the women we serve in a different but equally meaningful way. Each role has been an important part of my journey and has given me a deeper understanding of the different stages of recovery and restoration. I am grateful that The WellHouse has allowed me to grow professionally while continuing to be part of a mission that is so meaningful to me.
How has working at The WellHouse impacted your life?
Working at The WellHouse has changed my life in ways that are difficult to put into words. It has taught me the importance of compassion, patience, resilience, and looking beyond someone's circumstances to see the person underneath. The women I have had the privilege of working with have taught me that healing is not always a straight line, and that sometimes the smallest moments of encouragement can make the biggest difference.
The WellHouse has also challenged me to grow both personally and professionally. It has given me a deeper understanding of the realities of human trafficking and the importance of advocacy and restoration. Most importantly, it has reminded me that everyone deserves the opportunity to start over, be heard, and know that their past does not define their future. I feel incredibly blessed to be part of a mission that gives women hope and the chance to reclaim their lives.
