Rescue Update - Summer 2023
Hi! My name is Rachel Crabtree and I have the honor of serving as our Director of Trauma Therapy here at The WellHouse. My duties include supervising the therapy department, managing our Stabilization Center, and managing our intake process— including answering our crisis phone and email.
Since the last rescue report, we have had 8 women receive services at The WellHouse and 4 of those women are still with us! Some reasons a woman may leave our program include – wanting a smaller program, needing a drug rehabilitation program, or having mental health issues that require treatment beyond what The WellHouse can offer.
Currently, I am seeing a trend with survivors coming to us with severe mental health disorders. Mental health disorders such as schizophrenia, dissociative disorders, personality disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder, and complex post-traumatic stress disorder are common in the women we serve.
Mental health disorders can develop for a number of reasons, including childhood abuse and neglect, homelessness, poverty, abandonment, and traumatic experiences – all of which our women have experienced. Working with these illnesses requires a multidisciplinary approach and I believe our team does an excellent job of communicating with each other in order to provide each of our women with the best care possible!
Filtered through the lens of Christ, our staff recognize the spiritual component of battling a mental health disorder and we pray fervently for them. Please join us in praying for these women, specifically for their minds. That their minds would be restored and renewed, that any barriers preventing them from hearing the word of God would be removed, and that they would be open to receiving the healing opportunities provided at The WellHouse!
