Difference Makers - Summer 2019
One of the pillars of the The WellHouse is the “hearts and hands” through which the organization’s mission is made possible: our volunteers. I passionately refer to them as Difference Makers, those who long to live out the gifts and talents that God has placed within them.
Each WellHouse volunteer truly exhibits the intention and instruction of Paul in Philippians 2:4, "Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others."
The ladies at The WellHouse recently welcomed a new face to our volunteer portfolio, Life Coach Retha Nichole. Her workshop “Believe in Yourself … Again” was a great encouragement to those who have just been rescued from human trafficking as well as those whose lives are being restored and transformed during their time at The WellHouse.
As you might be led to consider becoming a WellHouse Volunteer, our goal in training those who serve this ministry is that each person is Enlightened, Engaged, Empowered, Encouraged and Equipped, all to be Effective in service! So, I wanted you to hear from several of our current volunteers and be inspired by their heart for serving The WellHouse.
WellHouse Volunteer Angie said, “To see God’s hand in the restoration of these ladies, to walk with them as they heal, and to encourage and give them hope, has enriched my faith and shown me the power of God’s love and grace. The hugs from the ladies say it all, that they feel safe and loved in this place.”
Another Volunteer Tammy recounts her visits to The WellHouse, as she’s observed the transformation of the survivors she has served. “Spending time with the survivors has been so sweet. When I first met one of the ladies, she was all wrapped up in her hoodie and would just peek out and observe our group. By the end of the second visit, she put the hoodie down and joined in on our activity. Now if she sees me drive up, she runs outside to greet me! We are BFFs! I just love all of them and can’t wait to get back to hang out and catch up,” Tammy said.
Volunteer Patti loves volunteering at The WellHouse. “This is a wonderful ministry that protects, loves, nurtures and encourages these survivors to become the ladies that God intended for them to be. We, as volunteers, get to see firsthand how God brings restoration to their lives,” she said.
If YOU want to get involved, here are some of our upcoming events and opportunities to serve the WellHouse residents:
